Join the Chorus!

The Schoodic Summer Chorus is a multi-generational a capella community chorus devoted to nurturing musicianship and community, in residence at Hammond Hall in Winter Harbor, Maine. Its members share a passion for singing beautiful and unusual music. Directed by singer and composer Anna Dembska, the chorus is open to anyone who loves to sing.

In 2008, Schoodic Summer Chorus will perform If Music Be the Food of Love, Sing On! a kaleidoscope of love songs, from romantic love to spiritual love to love of country and the earth, with madrigals, music from the Republic of Georgia and Latin America, shape-note hymns, and arrangements of Ravel and 20th-century pop songs.

Cost

The Schoodic Summer Chorus is primarily supported by membership dues, but we want everyone who wants to sing to be able to join us. Membership fee is $120 (this level covers the cost of running the chorus). If you can't afford the regular dues, we have full and partial scholarships for those who need them.

If you can afford it, please consider paying more than $120 to help subsidize those who need to pay less.

Commitment

We ask that you miss no more than two rehearsals, and make sure you come to the final three rehearsals (July 17, 22 and 24). If you really want to sing with us, but have scheduling problems, please contact Anna Dembska.
